Amboseli is the second most popular park in Kenya after the legendary Maasai Mara. Not only does it offer exceptional game and bird viewing, but it is also the place to enjoy the best views of iconic Mount Kilimanjaro. Postcard-perfect views of Mount Kili’s snow-capped peaks, rising six vertical kilometers above the savannah, are beyond belief. The park has gained a lot of attention with its ‘big tuskers’ – free-roaming giant elephants with incredibly long tusks, which are so huge that they almost touch the ground.

Amboseli is a majestic National Park and it should be on the bucket list of every safari visitor in Kenya.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1

Nairobi – Amboseli National Park (drive time – 4 hours)

You will be picked up by your private tour guide from Nairobi and leave for Amboseli National Park. Amboseli is a beautiful park situated on the border with Tanzania, right at the foot of the tallest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro. On a clear day, you will get stunning views of its snowy peaks.

Amboseli is famous for being the best place in the world to get close to free-ranging elephants. The elephant population is so large here that sightings are pretty much guaranteed! Have you seen the classic Kenya photos of elephants posing in front of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro? These shots were taken right here in Amboseli, and you will have a chance to take these amazing photos too!

The Amboseli landscape consists of rolling plains, swampy marshes, and rocky thorn bushes dotted with acacia trees. The topology of the landscape ensures excellent viewing of the large diversity of wildlife in their natural habitat.

You will arrive at Amboseli National Park at lunchtime and after your meal leave on the afternoon game drive.

Start by watching the sunrise cast its first rays across the park and see the wild animals as they get ready for their day on the savannah. Drive back to the lodge for a sumptuous breakfast followed by a morning game drive through the park.

One of the advantages of Amboseli is that the terrain is open, which makes game spotting easier. The park’s tranquil beauty allows fabulous wildlife viewing and photography. The wild animals here are very approachable and not frightened by the vehicles. It is a great opportunity to spot big families of Elephants, Lions, Impalas, Giraffes, and Gazelles.

During the day you will also have the option to visit the Masai Cultural Village to experience firsthand their unique way of life.

You could have your lunch at the hotel or have it packed, allowing you to spend more time in the park. The car is at your disposal from sunrise to sunset. It is up to you how much time you want to spend in the park!
